Typical Online Student
When thinking of a person who takes online courses, most probably think of someone who is older or someone who is working and going to school at the same time. This is not the case at all. Online students may be anyone of any gender and age. One thing that all online students typically have in common is a core set of skills and the manner in which they approach learning.
First of all, all online students have basic computer skills. They all know how to use the internet and have basic typing skills.
Second, most of them learn better by themselves. Online students have to read material on their own and there is not a professor there all the time, like in traditional classroom settings, to give them input on their assignments. There are no other students around either to help them with their assignments.
Third, online students have good study habits. These students have to set time to do their assignments and take the tests that are due that week. They have to make time to go online and take their class as well. They also work better by themselves when it comes to assignments and projects.
These students are also motivated to learn. Online students have the ability to follow through with the schedule they have set for themselves when it comes to studying and doing work.
Another quality that online students have is that they are organized. Online students may be juggling more than one thing at a time such as work or a family. If this is the case they must be organized so they can turn in their assignments on time.
Lastly, these students are confident in themselves. Online students know what they want and they know what they have to do to achieve the goals they have set for themselves. Their confidence shows in their class and in their jobs after graduation.
